I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again, last week – particularly Wednesday, October 17 – was huge for The Gay Dad Project. Erin and Jared were guests on The Coming Out Lounge radio show with Rick Clemons. (If you missed the show you can download it and listen here.) I’m completely biased but I thought the show was great and I loved listening to Erin, Jared, and Rick talk.

I was unable to join in on the radio show because I was on my way to Los Angeles for some fun of my own: a television appearance on The Ricki Lake Show. Yes, you just read that right. Ricki Lake. The Ricki Lake Show flew my (gay) dad and me to LA to tape an episode on alternative marriages.

The entire experience was both exciting and terrifying. I realize I still have some fear associated with talking about having a gay dad. Even though I want to talk about it, knowing that thousands of people could see or hear me is entirely different.

I tried my best to enjoy the experience and not be consumed with nerves, and in the end I had an incredible time. The people at The Ricki Lake Show were amazing, the people on the show were wonderful, and I even got to meet Rick Clemons in person.

I’ve been told the show will air next Thursday, November 1, so be sure to tune in or set your DVR to record. For more info on The Ricki Lake show click here.

I would like both yours and Pete’s autographs please. I’m so proud of you and your dad for being who you both are. I love you!!!

    • Thanks Jackie. It’s nice to have support from way back when. πŸ™‚

As for the autographs I’ll see what I can work out. Otherwise check your high school yearbook … I think you have mine in there somewhere. πŸ˜›

  2. I continue to be blown away by what is happening for all of you. Simply amazing. And needed.

I just set my DVR to record your episode!
